What You Can Expect

SYG is more than a sport carnival or music festival. It’s a community, full of good people ready to make some awesome memories with you. Across the SYG weekend you’ll have opportunities to meet other young people from across Victoria and play a range of sports suitable for beginners and experts.

There are some common sports you’ll know, like AFL football, basketball, netball, and soccer. And there are less common sports like bocce, European handball, and even some indoor sports like UNO and eSports.

Sports are divided into grades based on age, gender, and skill level, so you can always find a competition suited to you, whether you’re there to go hard, or just play casual.

You’ll camp on-site with your group and experience the whole event with them. Bring some warm clothes, because it gets cold, and huddle around the fire pit. And explore the event grounds to meet other young people from other groups and hang out in the SYG Village every evening.

Join in with high energy Christian music each evening and hear from our guest speaker. Explore faith at your own pace in the company of your trusted friends. Everyone is welcome at SYG, whatever your journey.

How To Register

You can’t attend SYG by yourself, you need to be part of a group. Once your group is signed up, you can hit the register button to sign yourself up.

Your group is managed by a Group Coordinator. Your Group Coordinator is the person you should speak to about anything SYG related.

SYG is a ticketed event, and all participants and visitors must be registered before arrival. Any participants, visitors, or helpers without a ticket will be barred from entering the event.

Who Can Attend

Sports are open to high school aged people in Year 7 (or equivalent) or higher up to 29 years of age. Visitors not playing sport can be any age.

If you’re 18 years old or older, you must hold a Victorian Working With Children Check. Any participants, visitors, or helpers without a WWCC will be barred from entering the event. Registered teachers and police offices are not exempt from this requirement. Contact your Group Coordinator for more information.

Costs

Fees and costs differ from group to group, so ask your Group Coordinator how much it costs to attend.
